Everything was perfect. The atmosphere was very calming and relaxing, the staff great, and dinner and breakfast one of the best meals I’ve ever had. It was great that we got to use ryokan’s own onsen anytime and also visit the public baths. The room was also spacious and lovely. Definitely worth the price, big recommendation!:)

The hotel staff was very polite and helpful. The Japanese breakfast was a great experience (although we weren’t used to it). The hotel is also very clean. We tried the private onsen and massage service, both were excellent.

New Yokote has a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and restaurant in Yamanouchi.

Incredible service and incredible overall experience. It's like staying in a fancy cabin in the snow. The lounge area with the giant fireplace is awesome, very nice food, very spacious rooms and first class facilities such as the onsens and indoor swimming pool. The decor could be interpreted as dated (as other reviews have stated) but we felt this simply adds to the warmth and cosiness of the establishment. The service here is seriously next level and it is fantastic value for money.

Not sure what some comments are on about. Yes this hotel appears a little dated at first sight but it is incredibly charming. After arrival at Yudanaka station, I went to the tourist information center and the staff helped me to call Hotel Housei and they picked us up in 5 minutes. The indoor and especially, outdoor onsen were amazing! The dinner and breakfast were good. After checkout, the hotel ferried us to the snow monkey park while keeping our luggage at the hotel, which we picked up afterwards and the hotel ferried us back to Yudanaka station. The staff were incredibly friendly throughout, and most knew really good English. This was the best Ryokan experience I ever had and this is my third trip to Japan. Finally, I paid the equivalent of $83 USD for 1 night.

The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a nice stay at the hotel. They were so so nice and friendly. We were blown away by their service. Nothing was too much to ask for. We got a shuttle ride to the Monkey park and the station, had lovely dinner and breakfast and even when we asked for softer pillows they were at our door immediately. We enjoyed using the quiet onsen, specifically the outdoor bath. Overall this was an amazing experience, and felt a bit like a trip down memory lane, as if time stood still at the hotel, in a good way. The traditional rooms were a nice experience to have as Belgians. Thank you to the whole staff!

Fantastic place to stay! The Japanese room was comfortable, great views, Kaiseki dinner was excellent. Location was great, walkable to train station , convenience store and Shibu Onsen. Staff were friendly and spoke English. Shuttle to train and snow monkey park was included.

We pre-booked breakfast, which was mostly Japanese style buffet, although a small selection of croissant and cereal available. Pre-booked dinner was Fabulous! Hotpot & DIY BBQ style meat with soups and veggies each night. Different variations for each of the 3 nights we were there. Definitely recommend pre-booking meals as nowhere close/easy to go. Staff - AMAZING. Even with small amount of English - very easy to communicate. Ski/clothing/gloves/helmet hire very easy to access in hotel but quite dated, although fine for 2-3 days of skiing. We had to buy lift tickets across the road at lift ticketing office, which was simple. Onsen absolutely fabulous. Beautiful shampoos/conditioner etc provided. Robes available in hallway shelves, along with help yourself green tea at any time. Bus stop 1 minute walk away. Great family hotel.
