I loved it. You get nicely greeted by the dogs and cats of the owner, get a milk (or in my case a beer, thank you) and a short instruction about the things in the room. It's not too far from the city center but also out in the nature where you van listen to the chirping sound for a good night rest.

Bill personally met us, even though we were a little late. He showed us around and was very personable.

Lovely warm welcome, nothing was too much trouble. Large, clean accommodation with apple and plum trees in the garden and plenty windfall fruits to pick. The pool was clean and not too cold.

Family 2 bedroom units were very new, super clean and location right in town centre (which also had a very refreshingly newly upgraded feel) made it easy to get to supermarket, eating places and playing field. Washing machine and dryer inside the apartment added to the homely feel of the place!

We stayed for two nights at the Riverside Homestead while visiting Bay of Islands and a day trip out to Cape Reinga. What a wonderful stay - the house is one of the most peaceful places we have stayed at. Michael and Chris have exceptional attention to details, from calming music when entering the room to an excellent breakfast on the balcony while enjoying the fantastic views down to the river. Everything at breakfast was home made as well! Great location to some nice restaurants, breweries and to the treaty ground. We will definitely recommend friends and family to stay here!
