Set in the quiet countryside of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, this family-run guest house is 45 minutes’ drive from Stykkishólmur town centre. From someone working in the industry, I must say that this is a very solid choice and hotel in the area. I did a lot of research and there are not many hotels in Snaefellsnes, mostly guesthouses. This is a fantastic choice but if you go there with the expectation of a 5 start hotel, you will be disappointed. As a small guesthouse close to the mountains and total quietness in the area, it's absolutely fantastic. Breakfast is small but absolutely sufficient. The price-value-ratio is spot on. We enjoyed it very much and I can only recommend it to anyone thinking of going there.

Beds were extremely comfortable, we had a great sleep! The on-site restaurant food was delicious, and the continental breakfast was worth the stay!

Super nice staff with excellent recommendations of the town and surroundings. Clear view on the northern lights thanks to the remote location. Tasty breakfast!!!

Located in the country side, Hotel Stundarfridur offers accommodation 12 km from Stykkishólmur. This property provides guests with a terrace. There is also a restaurant and a shared lounge. Well sign posted! Pleasant friendly staff. Good breakfast. Comfortable rooms. Clean. Good sunlight blackout! Kids liked it! And they’re a hard bunch to please. We were a group of two families with 6 kids.

Found 23 km east of Snæfellsnes National Park, this hotel offers bright, modern rooms with private bathrooms. WiFi and parking are free. Snæfellsjökull Volcano is within 20 minutes’ drive. Beautiful facilities, many parts looked new. Spectacular location. The staff was great. They asked if we would like to have them knock on our door if auroras were sighted. They did knock on our door, and we saw some beautiful auroras. All the better because the location is isolated with very dark skies.
