Few of the staff members did speak English which is huge plus, I did ship my suitcases to different hotel and they helped me with all of this. You can buy day pass at the hotel which was amazing. Also huge plus was the fact that they do offer the lift to Kagoshima station and back. Their breakfast is to die for. The location is super nice too the tram station is just next to the hotel.

We spent a wonderful time on Yakushima, thanks in no small part to Yuki's outstanding hospitality. Long before our arrival, she took care of all our organizational questions, sending us information about ferries, rental cars, ordering food, etc., and even booked it for us if you wanted. That was such a huge relief and really helped us have a stress-free start to our days in Yakushima. Such proactive support before the arrival is rare these days. I can highly recommend the Blue Drop guesthouse; a tastefully furnished house, decorated with Yuki's beautiful glass art and paintings, super clean, and with everything you need. She also gave us lots of tips on what to do on the islands and how to get there. Last but not least, the fantastic food deserves a mention, including the fresh sashimi, caught that same day by Yuki's husband. At night, the starry sky lights up above the guesthouse, and you fall full and tired into the super comfortable bed, looking forward to delicious sandwiches and a pleasant chat with your hosts in the morning. Definitely one of the best accommodations on our many trips!

Situated within less than 1 km of Nahobattai Beach and a 16-minute walk of Akasa-kō, ゲストハウス假穂 provides rooms with air conditioning and a shared bathroom in Yoron. We stayed for 3 nights in this brand-new guesthouse, which opened in June 2025. The rooms were very comfortable and spotless, and the bathrooms and common areas were also impeccably clean and well equipped to make guests feel at home. The value for money is unbeatable. The host is a wonderful person: kind, respectful, and very welcoming. One evening he even invited us to join him at a local restaurant where we could try unique island specialties (such as goat sashimi and other delicacies). Overall, we highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a warm and authentic stay.

The glamping site is peaceful, right by the river, with beautiful views and nature all around. It’s perfect for relaxing or being active. The place is pet-friendly—we stayed with our cat, and the owners’ dog was super cute and friendly. The owners and staff were kind and helpful, giving great tips about local activities. The room was spacious, clean, and well-designed, with a lovely walk-in shower. We loved the terrace and small garden for privacy and views. The outdoor shower was great after exercise. Breakfast and picnic options were delicious. Wish we could’ve stayed longer! Highly recommend for couples, families, or friends.

Yamato inn - Vacation STAY 86368v is set in Amami, 18 km from Amami Marine Exhibition Hall, 18 km from Amami Marine Exhibition Hall, as well as 23 km from Yanigawa Shopping Street. It's called "Yamato Inn," but this is a holiday cottage not an inn. We (5 of us) stayed for two nights in May and we loved it. The house has a bedroom, futon mattresses for the living room floor, and a folding bed next to the kitchen area. It's quite tight to fit 5 people but we didn't mind. The house had everything we needed including a well-equipped kitchen with tea/coffee and bottles of water, a living room with a lovely handmade wooden coffee table, and comfortable beds. In the entrance hall, the hosts thoughtfully provide beach equipment (BBQ, tents, snorkelling gear) and torches for night safaris -- during which we found many rabbits!! There's a very nice garden with a deck and lawn. It's such a pleasant place to sit and relax. The beach is about 100m from the house. Perfect. The young couple who own and manage the cottage are really friendly and helpful. They have worked hard to reform the house, and they deserve to succeed. I hope many more people will stay... We will stay again as soon as we can!
