The beds were so comfortable and calming. The surrounding neighborhood had delicious food and kind people that made us feel welcome on every corner. It was fun going to produce markets and coming back to our home away from home. Kumamoto rocks and the venue confirmed it.

Established in 1941 and renovated in 2005, Ryokan Ayu no Sato features multiple indoor/outdoor hot spring baths, both Japanese and Western-style accommodations and free WiFi in public areas. Nothing dislike. If have a pair of Clogs, that will be prefect.

Nice reception area, comfortable beds, half decent slippers provided, price was excellent, washer/dryer facilities were good and staff were happy to call ferry company for us to plan our day ahead.
