Host Jan was welcoming and we loved her bread every morning. The kitchen area is well organized with many extras. We enjoyed the outdoor area as well Only place we have stayed with screens on the windows. Didn’t miss a kitchen sink as dirty dishes go in a bin and they are washed for you. Loved that part!

Property was great, clean and spacious with an amazing view from the deck over the estuary and being able to listen and see all of the bird life was a highlight

Offering garden views, Matakohe House in Matakohe features accommodation, a garden, a terrace and a shared lounge. With lake views, this accommodation provides a balcony. This is the ideal place to stay if you are in the area. Jackie and Daniel are outstanding hosts! Our room was clean and spacious. Our bathroom was large, clean, with a great shower and the best shampoo/conditioner I have ever used. Their B&B is like a hotel. It has at least four rooms with a wide hallway between. Each room has French doors that open up onto a wrap around porch. The breeze that came into our Room was delightful! They have a hot tea and coffee bar available to all 24/7 AND a lounge, just for the guests. It was very private and comfortable. If you get a chance to have dinner and breakfast, don’t pass it up…it’s delicious! Plus, be sure to check out The Kauri Museum, which is just next door…it’s an impressive facility! I’m still dreaming of Jackie’s homemade cheesecake with mixed berry compote!

We had a lovely stay at Mangawhai Lodge. It's located at the top of a hill and has outstanding views. Jeanette our host was absolutely lovely and made it feel like we were staying with family. Breakfast was fantastic and freshly cooked each day with the choice of continental with yummy fresh fruit salad as an added bonus or a eggs, bacon and such. The lodge is not right in town center, but it's a short 15 walk to get to the cafes and restaurants. It's also within 10 to 1 hour drive to many awesome experiences and places. So you can see beautiful beaches and go surfing near by, do walking routes and explore cliffs, forrest and waterfalls or even a little city life in Whangarei.

Featuring barbecue facilities and views of garden, Kerigold Secluded Chalets Motel is set in Kerikeri, 21 km from Opua Forest. The place was spacious, clean and peaceful. The beds were comfortable, AC worked good, especially during these hot summer days. Be mindful that it is an open shower. Prime location was the main reason we booked this place. City centre, cafes, restaurants, locals selling watermelons and berries, ice cream place and many more, just around the corner from the motel. Thanks again for the wonderful stay ☺️
