They were very friendly during check-in. Separate from the resort, I had hired a private driver who attempted to extort me. Luckily I escaped the situation and a driver from the resort picked me up. Still, the driver continued to contact me asking for money and threatening to call the police. He even called the hotel several times. After explaining the situation the hotel staff were very understanding and helped to ward him off. Long story short, the staff will make you feel safe here! Anyway, they offer a range of fun cultural and physical activities to try. I did the Bedouin house tour, Sunset drive, Sand Boarding (highly recommend, good fun), and Camel ride. The food at the restaurant is good and portions are generous. The pool was nice and I wish I used it more.

Drove from Al Maha Al Wasil fuel station. Before we let reduce the tyre pressure for 1 OMR, by return they did the oppoosite and you can wash your car for 1.50-2 OMR. We enjoyed the stay, you can walk around the camp, watching sunset/rise or just sitting on the terrace and looking aroung. We were free upgraded and got very nice bungalow in the corner with the view on dune hills and in the morning we could look for the sunrise. The sun appears approx one hour after the official sunrise, do not get too early like we did :-)
