the location was quiet and so relaxing. We had an absolutely wonderful time at Emily’s house! The house is not only beautiful and very cozy, but also perfectly equipped with everything you could possibly need – and spotlessly clean. We also enjoyed sitting outside on the terrace and simply taking in the peaceful atmosphere. What truly makes Velvet Fern Guesthouse special is the thoughtful and loving attention to detail: everything was personally and carefully prepared for our arrival, including a lovely breakfast and bikes we could use – such a kind touch! We felt welcome and at home from the very first moment. Thank you so much, Emily – we’d love to come back!

Beautiful hostel located in the former general store. Lots of wood and character. Spotless. Good ratio bathroom per person. Very comfortable bed. The kitchen is very well equipped, including some basics such as salt and sugar. Lots of games in the common room. Free parking just outside.

The room was spacious and comfortable, stunning view from our 4th floor window and it even had a coffee machine which was just a lovely touch. The breakfast was the best continental/hot breakfast combo options I experienced during my trip through Vancouver Island. They even had a pool which was such a treat after 2 weeks traveling. Loved the place. Stunning areas like Campbell River, Oyster River and Elk Falls are less than an hour's from there.

Had a continental breakfast, but it was very small with few offerings. You can definitely tell it's an older hotel, with older accommodations, but a bed that is clean and a private bathroom that is clean is all I ask. In this they met my expectations

They honoured the price I was charged and moved me to another section of the hotel, due to where they wanted me to stay, I’ve stayed in that section before and it smells like smoke, when I booked I requested non smoking and a room with a bathtub. I refused to stay in that section and the room they put me in did not have a bath tub like I asked for and was told it did, manager said yes it had a bath tub when I asked him while I was checking, which he had to of know it did not have one as they put me in the handicap room. I won’t be going back.

In the 11 months been travelling this is the second worst Accomodation we have stayed in . Primarily due to staff allocating a genius booking.com guest the worst block of rooms . Room musty as walked in plus dark and dreary and right of the noisy road . Not recommended !
