Beautifully renovated, very clean, and location is amazing! The common use of the large kitchen, living room and patio was great, we shared with a large family who occupied multiple rooms, and everyone was friendly and respectful. Good location, beside road and near train station. Description indicates that it has a restaurant, but this is now closed. However there are some eating places nearby, which were good. (we tried 3 of them). Breakfast was good, although I would have liked a better selection of meat. Stayed for 3 nights and received a travel pass for local area, which was great.

Self-service is a bit unusual when living in Asia, and the absence of staff is sometimes kind of a problem, but in overall, we were very satisfied with our stay. There were plenty of great ideas to decorate the hotel, even the staircase, and of course the rooms. Ample space, clean and quiet.

I have stayed here several times. It is very expensive so it makes a lovely treat. Personally I like that it is all „auf Deutsch“. I like to experience a place from that country‘s perspective, plus I can work on my German!

Great location for hiking in Appenzell. 10 min drive from the main town with restaurants and supermarket. Beautiful views of the mountains. Very clean, and spacious rooms. Continental breakfast was extensive. Loved the homemade bread rolls and wide selection of teas. Would stay again if I hike in that area.
