We stayed at Insomnia Kyoto Oike for six nights, and it was the most pampering, comfortable, cozy, and friendly-designed hotel I’ve stayed at in Japan – and possibly anywhere. The hotel is perfectly located, just a short walk from the train station and about a 20-minute walk to Nishiki Market. The hotel offers everything you could need to make your stay pleasant and welcoming. The rooms are clean, spacious, and beautifully designed, with a fantastic bathroom and all the amenities you could ask for. The lobby features a cozy social lounge with light refreshments available 24/7, including a wide selection of hot and cold drinks, and even a beer/wine machine for only 500 yen per glass. Additional thoughtful features include a washing machine and dryer, a coin exchange machine, bicycles for guest use, refillable water bottles, and more. Everything is designed with the guest’s comfort in mind – simply amazing! When I return to Kyoto, this will undoubtedly be the hotel I choose, without hesitation.

The accommodation is clean, comfy and has everything you might need. It is situated in the walking distance to all the major tourist sights but hidden in a quiet side alley. The owners are super friendly and they give you all kinds of tips on where to eat, what places are worth a while, how to get there, heads up on ongoing events and much more. It can’t compare to a normal hotel. It’s better in every way. I would love to come back if I get a chance.

Amazing room, super clean and brand new. It is very spacious compared to other places I stayed in Kyoto. Location is my favourite in town - it's very close to some main landmarks, gardens, shopping, restaurants, next door to family mart and 5min walk to the metro/train station. Highly recommend!

It was in a great location, especially if you come by car. You're close to a lot of great things and have great bus connection for things a little bit further away. The little garden is a nice addition to wake up to and you can do your laundry if you have a longer stay.

Me and my friends stayed at Minn Gion for two nights. We had a great room with two single beds and a sleeper sofa. The bathroom and kitchen amenities were great. We appreciated the laundry facilities as well. We loved the cleanliness and especially the location. Lots of restaurants, cafes and public transport options are in walking distance. Can highly recommend this stay to future guests.

The location was very central. The staff were helpful and so nice, assisting us with our free luggage transfer from the checkin desk to the accommodation. The house was clean and tidy and had everything we required. Unique experience to stay in a traditional Machiya house.
