This ryokan style hotel was one of our best experiences in Japan. The views over the islands of Matsushima were superb - truly one of the 3 great views of Japan! Our room overlooked the famous Fukuurabashi bridge through a picturesque screen of the twisted pine trees that make this view so iconic. The kaiseki style meals were superb - delicious and beautifully presented. Each dish was a delight of discovery, awe and wonder. We enjoyed a private onsen bath with sunset views and also visited each of the other public baths over the next day. The views over the bay are simply stunning.

Staying for 3 nights with an island view room high up was a real pleasure. The rotenburo, tha banquet buffet breakfasts&dinners, the spacious room, the attentive staff, the shuttle bus service, all excellent!

Phenomenal stay! The staff was so friendly and professional. The views are one of the best I’ve ever seen! The onsen views are breathtaking. We also booked the private bath and it was perfect! We only had traditional breakfast and it was divine. We loved every minute of our stay here! We’ll definitely be back! Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

Uchi Matsushima Guesthouse is a restful, calm, clean and comfortable place to stay. The hosts are very welcoming. Eiju-san speaks excellent English and is very informative and helpful about all things local. . The guesthouse is perfectly located close to many of the beautiful places in Matsushima.

The owners and staff were very friendly and welcoming, we felt very at home during our stay. They also gave us very good information on where to eat and what to do. It's overall very good value for money.

Uchi Matsushima Guesthouse can easily be reached from Matsushimakaigan Station. It is close to all the beautiful spots of Matsushima and still very cozy and quiet. The house is spacious, the beds very comfortable. The host is extremely kind and welcoming and speaks fluently English. He gave us very helpful advice and made us feel at home. Thank you very much for this unforgettable stay at lovely Matsushima.

Wonderful stay in a Japanese style hotel. Very comfortable futons, plenty of room, large private shower/bath and separate toilet. The couple who own the hotel are just so helpful and friendly which made for a wonderful stay. Although their English is limited it was not a problem. About a 10 minute walk from Matsushima Station.

The of if not the best accommodation I've stayed in while in Japan. The owners were lovely, even offered to take us to the train station so we didn't have to walk. The rooms were beautiful and clean, as was the onsen. Highly recommended to anyone staying in the Matsushima area.
