Excellent We spent two wonderful nights in a traditional Japanese house that has been lovingly preserved and beautifully decorated. It was the most special accommodation of our four-week trip through Japan. The house is set in a peaceful location, surrounded by rice fields, with a lovely garden that invites you to relax. The kitchen is fully and thoughtfully equipped – everywhere you look, there are little details that truly nourish the soul. Our host Kenji was exceptionally attentive: he responded immediately to every request, shared great local tips, and even made restaurant reservations for us – where we were warmly welcomed and had fantastic food experiences. We recommend staying at least two nights to fully enjoy the house and its surroundings. A perfect experience from beginning to end – five stars from us! BTW there is an amazing Blacksmith experience in the area, Workshop Kurogane, where one can force his own Japanese kniffe. Highly recommended. Perfect Combo with the Riverside Hideaway experience.

My daughter and I stayed at Daisuke's place in Shimanto on our recent Japan holiday. It has been the highlight of our trip. Despite being told by the host to not go on the 439 road we unfortunately didn't notice that's exactly where Google was taking us and had a very scary 30min. The futons were the most comfortable beds so far, and there was plenty of space. Dinner provided and made by the host was delicious and fresh with a surprise seafood platter by his friend. After a day making knives at a local workshop we returned to join Daisuke for dinner at good friends. They were some of the loveliest and liveliest people we have met, amazing food and amazing company all night. Overall, we are definitely going to be returning!

What a place!! The location is stunning, you are fully immersed into nature so it makes for a very relaxing and peaceful stay. We would recommend arriving in the daylight as harder to navigate at night.

Staying in a very classy old traditional Japanese house. The location is stunning. The host, Kenji, is attentive when needed and discrete when not. This was our 2nd stay and we could probably live there if possible.

We stayed in the separate guest house which was nice and private. The location of the accommodation is very secluded and peaceful. The communal kitchen is well equipped and allowed us to prepare our own meals. Our host Kenji was very helpful.

The accommodation is in perfectly japanese traditional style. It's the best japanese accommodation we ever stayed. The location is very remote where you can feel nature and quietness. Simanto river is 3 min away by walk. It's like a private river and we can swim. We can highly recommend this place to stay!
