Our stay at the Royal Apartments from December 22nd, 2024 to January 4th, 2025 was truly magical. The property boasts a small but dedicated team that ensured all our needs were met with precision and care. From maintaining the pristine condition of the villas to crafting bespoke meals, every detail was meticulously handled. The beautiful towel art and personalized recommendations for island excursions added delightful touches to our experience. Moreover, the stables and lovely horses provided unforgettable beach rides during stunning sunsets, making our stay even more enchanting. A special mention goes to Sophie at the front desk, Zach the manager, Mr. Saidi in F&B, and Chef Ochu, the head chef, for their warm smiles and impeccable hospitality. We highly recommend this experience and would rate it a perfect 9/10.

What an absolute gorgeous gem of a hotel in Stone Town. Truly authentic building and decor and incredible bedrooms. I stayed in the ‘Kate’ room which was utterly delightful. Beautiful private terrace overlooking the town, enormous bedroom (beautifully decorated) and an open-air bathtub adjoining. Super private. Gorgeous to wake up in the morning and open the doors and feel the breeze filter through. Beautiful bed linen and towels (woven locally) and handmade soaps. If you are into aesthetics, then this is the place for you. I can’t say enough to rate the hotel. All the staff were absolutely delightful and super attentive (as a single female traveller it was very much appreciated). The Manager was extremely kind and friendly. Also organised a fantastic private tour of the town for me which was brilliant. The rooftop restaurant is to die for. The best, authentic and freshest of food I have ever eaten.The taster plate experience with sunset and cocktails was dreamy. Amazing views and ambiance. Didn’t want it to end! The Secret Garden restaurant is also absolutely worth a visit. I attended on a Friday evening when there was live music being performed. Truly magical. Again, the food was just amazing and the staff all super kind.

This is the second time we have stayed at this hostel. Everything is great, interior, comfortable, great breakfast, good staff. At night we urgently needed to go to the hospital, the manager very quickly helped us with a taxi. We had an early departure, they prepared a takeaway breakfast for us, thank you very much.

Amazing, friendly and nice hosts that were available for any requests or help at any time. We felt very respected and welcome at Zava House. On our arrival to Zanzibar a transfer from the airport to the accommodation was handled which went smooth. We liked entering and leaving the property and having small interactions and chats with the hosts as they were super friendly and nice to talk to. I would recommend Zava House to anyone looking for a nice affordable place to stay in Stone Town, close to the beaches, shops and market.

Those staff were the most friendly I’ve ever met. Been to different countries and different accommodations but the ones from Golden palm take the crown. While planning the trip I kept thinking this would be the most difficult trip because of my infant. Those guys came through for me and it was the most smooth stay I’ve ever had.
