I truly loved everything about Mario Lakeside. The location is peaceful and beautiful, right by the lake — perfect for relaxing. The room was clean, cozy, and well-maintained. What made this place special is the heart behind it. The owner, Pak Ali, is a kind and inspiring person. He also runs a foundation for children with cleft lips in Sumatra — which made my stay feel even more meaningful. Upstairs, there’s a vegetarian café with delicious food. They grow some of their ingredients on-site (farm-to-table concept), and I was blown away by the haloumi sandwich – they even import the cheese from the UK! It’s not just a place to stay, it’s a place that stays with you. I’d definitely come back if I visit Toba again.

The room had a nice big window with a lot of light, but good curtains to allow us to sleep in darkness in the morning. The facilities were new and the toilet had shampoo and soap included. The toilet was also very spacious. The owner, Mr. Bloom, was exceptionally nice. Collected and dropped us at the harbour, and was very kind to pick us from a village nearby when we didn't had transportation.
