This 4-star hotel offers a 24-hour front desk. The accommodation provides a sauna, spa centre, restaurant and free WiFi throughout the property. Staff were very accommodating in allowing us to leave our bags before check-in and had an umbrella for us to borrow which made our day much easier.

Located in Matsushima, 10 km from Shiogama Shrine, Matsushima Koumura features accommodation with a hot tub and a public bath. There is a private entrance at the ryokan for the convenience of those who stay. The ryokan provides rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. Staff was very friendly and easy to talk to, and the inn made for a great stay. Also the sentō baths were a welcome addition and were nice for relaxing into! The area is calm (for which the only downside is that there isn't a lot of choice for restaurants around), close to transportation and good for sightseeing around Mastushima — we took the sightseeing ferry around the bay and had a great time.

Sendai Museum is a 15-minute train ride from Hotel Metropolitan Sendai East. Sendai Castle and Zuihoden are a 20-minute drive from the property, while Sakunami Hot Spring is located an hour away by car. The service is absolutely great. They helped me find my lost shirts. The finest hotel experience in Japan so far.

Sendai Toshogu is 23 km away and Rakuten Seimei Park Miyagi is 23 km from the hostel. Compared to some places I've rated a 10, this could be a 12! Amazing value. It's a short walk from the two main stations (around 10 mins) and about a 20 min walk to the famous bridge. The place was modern (seemed recently opened) and was very clean throughout. I had a single room that was really spacious. The bed was comfy and it was a really quiet area. Best night's sleep in over a week! The kitchen/ lounge area was also spacious and clean. The owner/ staff were also really friendly and stopped in to have a chat. I wish I could have stayed longer - the cafe/ bar downstairs seemed like a cool place. Highly recommend!

Amazing value, really great location and a very helpful operator who was full of handy recommendations for the area and super welcoming.

Tokinenoyado Yunushi Ichijoh is situated in the Kamasaki Onsen district in Shiroishi, a 15-minute drive from Shiroishi Station and Shiroishi-Zao Station. It was absolutely exceptional, from the food, to the staff, to the service and hot springs, everything was simply immaculate. You cannot get any better than this.
