The decor inside was very glamorous, the indoor and outdoor pools, outside bar area and garden were very beautiful. It felt like an oasis after a busy Lisbon. We fell asleep every night with open windows, listening to the sound of the stream that runs beside the hotel. The mattresses were exceptional and water pressure in showers good. The hotel is also right in the middle of nature outside of the little town of Penela and therefore felt very peaceful. Receptioin called daily a gentleman from the town to drive us to and back from the This was an experience in itself. There is a cafe opposite the taxi rank that the locals go to. We went twice to have a traditional Portugese drink and food. The full experience. Nobody can speak English but we chatted with everybody. Castle is a non event and town offers very little. If you need a good rest, spoil yourself by going to this hotel.

Food is amazing with lots of choices ( we are vegetarian) and the even the breakfast coffee tastes lovely! ( unusual!)

There is a grill restaurant downstairs with delicious chicken and cold beer. The breakfast is so reach and tasty. But the best thing there is the owner - you just feel special guest in any way possible. He even provided a towels to clean our boots and helmets. Thank you very much for your hospitality, we will definitely see each other again!

A recently renovated apartment, Mira D'Ouro Sertã offers accommodation in Sertã. The property was built in 1900 and features air-conditioned accommodation with a balcony. The apartment provides garden views, a barbecue, a 24-hour front desk, and free WiFi is available throughout the property. We stayed in the loft apartment and there was nothing to fault. The automatic check-in was a lot easier than we had anticipated. The apartment was airy, clean, beautifully furnished, the kitchen had everything that was need for our (sadly, only a week) stay. The balcony overlooks the river beach which is only a 2 minute walk from the apartment and Freya responded quickly to our message. An excellent apartment and we will definitely return.
