Canadian family of four, needing a break (and fresh air) from Bangkok. We had a wonderful time at the Vala and felt welcomed from the second we arrived. I had sent a text ahead of time indicating that I had to follow a very complicated and strict medical diet due to cancer complications. The minute we arrived to our room, a staff member (P’Jib) from the restaurant came to see us and seek details about the diet. I was told that they would absolutely accommodate and they did, for 3 meals a day during the entire stay. The food was wonderful and I felt welcomed by all staff the entire time. To think that I had almost cancelled the trip because of this strict diet, assuming that the hotel would not want or be able to cater to this added complications. This place is a gem, so is P’Jib (I hope I am spelling her name correctly!) and all the staff at the restaurant, the reception desk and the cleaning crew. My only regret is that I wasn’t able to see P’Jib on our final day there in order to hug her one more time and let her know how much her kindness meant to me, (it was more than about the great food), and that her level of empathy for the difficult health journey I was on had been a breath of fresh air.

The quadruple room was perfect for our family. Everything is immaculate and well thought out. Each bed even had it's own reading light and plugs for charging. The beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was lovely, served on the roof with views of the mountains and we enjoyed watching all the monkeys. It was a quiet, convenient and pleasant stay. We also enjoyed a lunch at their small cafe which was tasty.

Featuring a terrace, the 3-star resort has air-conditioned rooms with a private bathroom. Guests can dine in the restaurant or a drink at the bar and free WiFi is available. I loved being surrounded by the wildlife and the tranquility of the setting. The staff was friendly and helpful and the food was delicious.

The property is 9 km from Kaeng Krachan dam lake. This is such a lovely place for birders and nature lovers. The area is beautiful, their grounds are well kept. You can walk in the garden, do a little nature trail and go to a nice viewpoint. Breakfast starts at 5.30, so after you can immediately go birding. We went 4 days with Games, a fantastic guide that showed us so much. We went to Kaeng Krachan, but also to other places such as Pak Thale. We saw the spoon-billed sandpiper there. Really special! Baan Maka can also bring you to some hides in the area for a reasonable price. That was also a nice experience. You can also go on a night walk around the property. The room is basic, bit has everything you need. The bed is really good and airco worked perfectly. After 6 nights, we still didn't want to leave. We might come back some other time, to see pitta's and broadbills in the nesting season. Thanks Games, Ian and staff for an amazing experience. Also a shout out to the chefs. The food is amazing. Try the som tam, coconut soup, spring rolls, vegetable tempura and panang!

They provided all the necessary information from the start, including details about the town, places to visit, and where to buy food. All the spaces are very clean, and the house is cozy and beautiful. The room is spacious and well-lit, with a wardrobe, desk, and fridge. It also has a bright balcony with a table and chairs. The common areas in the courtyard are lovely and clean. The breakfast was very good. There are free bikes available for use, which we really appreciated. You can also rent scooters here.
