Our visit to Emden was only overnight. We stayed near the city center on a small yet picturesque canal and walked to dinner easily. I recommend it as a stopover. There were a few things to see and do but we did not have the time.

We chose the site because it looked attractive from the photo but it is in a very inconvenient location due to through traffic. We stayed for 2.5 weeks as we were visiting relatives and friends. If we had been familiar with the area we should have relocated. The facility needs to be upgraded to make it more comfortable. We are over 80 and were located upstairs. Unfortunately not a pleasant experience for us.

It wasn't really a tourist place. There was one grocery shop opened but the lady didn't sell anything except souvenirs and a couple of snacks and she didn't take cards, only cash but she didn't actually have any cash for change.

Peaceful, quite.
Habits and the language are similar to one that is in North Nederland, Groningen.

Some nice buildings and the Ostfriesen Museum is well worth a visit with a surprisingly good and complete collection of armoury that could rival the British Royal Armouries and exhibits such as a "bog man" and prehistoric collections and research.
