Absolutely loved it!!!

I had only booked to stay 3 nights - but ended up staying 3 weeks as I completely fell in love with the place and the family. I am a female who has been solo travelling the world for 6 months and I can honestly say this is my favourite place I have stayed. The villa is situated on a quiet and peaceful lake - I spent many evenings sitting watching the birds as the sun set. The villa has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. The rooms are also clean with a very comfortable bed. Dasun was truly the most wonderful host - he always made sure I was comfortable, happy and always laughing (and also never hungry - the food was amazing!!!) He is a good and honest man and his family are also the most kind and hospitable people. I have never felt so welcomed - his family are like a second family to me now. I also went on 2 safari trips to Yala with Dasun Safari as I enjoyed the first so much. Dasun is a huge wildlife enthusiast and his knowledge on the safari was impeccable. Believe me when I say he knows something about everything! Crocodiles are my favourite animal - and on the 2nd safari we saw 18!!! We also saw a leopard and 15 elephants in one day. Dasun also took me to various places in the village to give me a true, authentic Sri Lankan experience - off the usual touristy track. I saw how Buffalo curd was made, went on a catamaran trip on the lake and also watched jewellery be hand made (thanks Sumo!). I loved every minute of my stay at Lapwing Lake Villa. So much so that I will definitely be returning. Thank you Dasun Ayya!!!!!
