Do not worry if on Google maps you see photos of construction sites - those are outdated photos! It is all built and paved now, nice to walk on (July 2025). Facilities and cleanliness were spot on.

Op wandelafstand van Birgu (20 min). Dan per ferry of klein huurbootje (voor 2 Euro pp) naar Valetta. Heel leuke manier om Valletta en de 3 cities te bezoeken. Goede ligging om ook Marsaxlokk te bezoeken met huurwagen.

Zurrieq is een typisch Maltees dorp.
Zurrieq is een typisch Maltees dorp. In tegenstelling tot de omgeving van Valleta is het niet echt toerischtisch en ook véél rustiger. Het dorp heeft enkele klassieke Malteserse dorpspleintjes met historische gebouwen. Maar vooral de wirwar aan (smalle) steegjes is ons bijgebleven. Zonder GPS loop je zéker verloren. Vanuit het dorp kun je ook wandelen naar de Blue Grotto. Hoewel de wandeling verloopt via de (soms drukke) brede openbare weg, is er in dit geval wél overal een voetpad voorzien met mooie uitzichten over de zee. Ook Hagar Qim is nog bereikbaar via een voetpad. Indien je liever niet wandelt kun je er ook geraken met de bus. Deze rijdt veelvuldig tussen Zurrieq en de Blue Grotto. Ook Valetta en de luchthaven zijn gemakkelijk met de bus bereikbaar. Voor de luchthaven moet je twintig minuten rekenen. Voor Valetta veertig minuten.

Het is hier minder toeristisch maar heeft een leuke promenade en een strandje. Groot zwembad, speeltuin etc. Openbaar vervoer uitstekend, de bus stopt voor het hotel.
