For its location and hospitality, it stands out as one of the best places to truly experience Lapland. The classic sauna, the cabin nestled in the woods, the view of the frozen lake, and, with a bit of luck, the Northern Lights reflecting on its surface. Minna and her husband have done an excellent job of enhancing what is a truly unique and rare place. We're confident it will leave a wonderful memory for anyone who visits. Everything. Location, Facilities and host especially were amazing.

Beautiful middle age style building of an old Finnish school, the owner told me the story. Facilities are good and the shared bathroom is perfectly working and clean. Location is perfect to chill and enjoy nature, still very close to the market and the rest of the town (10/15 minutes walk). The sauna is super convenient and free of charge. Rooms are spacious, with big wardrobes, and beds are comfortable. There's also a common room with various sofas and games to share some time with other travellers. The kitchen has everything you may need. The owner was very welcoming and always ready to help and suggest the best activities in the area. Very good price point in the area considering the facilities, everything else is way more expensive, especially for solo travellers that can't afford a 500 euro/night chalet.

Beautiful cottage. It’s a way out of town (check the map) we didn’t have a car but Miia kindly arranged pickup and drop off with a stop at the shops for food. I absolutely loved my stay but I’ve detailed a few differences with this cottages to what you might expect so that you can get an accurate impression. The most important thing is the cottage does not have running water or a bathroom. You will need to bring drinking water, and water for washing/dishes/sauna is hand pumped from a well outside. There is an outside composting toilet, which is perfectly fine and was not difficult to use even as I was there in winter… I just needed to put on a jacket and shoes and was comfortable. The stairs are very steep, not suitable for anyone unsteady on their feet. Downstairs is the bunk bed. Upstairs has a double bed and a single bed (no walls or doors though, it’s an open mezzanine level). Wood for the fire is included and you use dried bark as the firelighters. The central heating kept the house warm even without the fire. The Sauna is attached to the side of the house and uses a wood fire. It takes a couple of hours to heat up. There is also a big water tank in the sauna which uses a wood fire beneath to heat up, you can use this water for washing in the sauna. The instructions state only to use one lot of wood under the tank which was good advice as it got very hot and any more would have made it boil which would be dangerous. Miia also gave us use of a battery powered camping shower so we could wash easily. The cottage is on the river which is completely frozen over winter. It is walking distance from Villa Karhukumpu which we used for activities, where Jrki the owner was very kind and helpful. Overall I found Miia to be extremely helpful as a host, and the place is as beautiful as the pictures.

Semi remote area, wonderful views, peace & quiet, great Hosts

The house really was a home and had so many homey amenities. We loved the sauna and the views of the river. It was quite and felt secluded but only about a km from town. As it was -5 to -14 we had a hire car and if you want to do some of the activities highly recommend a hire car

Paula is a great host who really wants you to enjoy every minute of your time in this amazing environment! Her offers for activities were great and we were lucky enough to do a 'full Lapland experience' with her help!
