Everything. The journey/drive to Hyakunagaran from the airport. From entering the carpark, the welcoming staff, the reception and the 86sqm room with 2x queen size bed each right up to the roof top bath. These are the best physical spaces we did not expect (booked with only limited info). Importantly both wife and I were so relaxed that we will be back.

This is an extremely charming island house with lots of character. It’s rustic and a bit old but it’s the only one of its kind in the neighbourhood and rare in 80s architecture Okinawa. The hosts were warm and lovely. I slept in the Japanese style room and it was peaceful and comfortable. The little makeshift patio garden is wonderful for morning coffee. AND THEY HAVE A KITTEN! I cried when I arrived to a Scandi industrial style hostel in my next destination, the contrast was jarring.

Absolutely best stay during our entire trip to Japan. House is fully equipped, very clean, but most of all the view from balcony is beautiful. It is only 3 min walk (there is a shortcut not visible on google maps) to the beach (don’t be suprised with tides).
