Port Charlotte Hotel is located in Port Charlotte on the shore of Loch Indaal. The conservatory and gardens open onto a sandy beach. Lorna the manager treated us like VIPs or long lost family. The pub and whisky selection is amazing as were the whisky enthusiast guests. The food and variety at the restaurant were equally superb.

Located in Port Ellen, No. 1 Charlotte Street has a garden, shared lounge, bar, and free WiFi. The rooms in the hotel are fitted with a coffee machine. Lovely place, excellent location, nice staff, excellent breakfast (for vegans also), bar downstairs and beer garden with amazing views.

The room was spotless and we had an ensuite bathroom so that was quite nice as well! I noticed some other rooms had a private bathroom outside their room. The staff deserve extra recognition for their hospitality, they checked in on us often and even informed us of a ferry cancellation that let us book another slot. The kitchen/pantry was well stocked and had a microwave to heat up takeaway food. The garden at the back provided an amazing view of the bay.

Featuring a fitness centre and a garden, Machrie Hotel & Golf Links is situated just outside Port Ellen. This 4-star hotel offers a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi. Very comfortable and quiet room, just the sound of the sea in the distance. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, really going above and beyond. Food in the restaurant great quality as well. For sure will stay again next time on Islay.
