The owner and the workers are really nice and helpful and the hotel is located few minutes walking from Kalkudah beach. You can also easily reach Passikudah beach by foot. I highly recommend staying here!

Firstly, the food is simply extraordinary, offering a menu with great variety. What stands out the most, is the fact they only serve freshly caught fish and seafood, crafting dishes that offer exceptional value for money. Every meal felt wonderfully generous, with complimentary starters, plentiful bread baskets, and a variety of options. The breakfast is equally impressive, featuring unlimited à la carte choices, superb bread baskets, fresh croissants, and an abundance of juices and lassis. We stayed in two very spacious beach-front tents, which were fantastic. The common areas, including the bar and dining area, provided stunning views and were beautifully designed. The beach itself was vast and pristine, with no other hotels or properties in sight. The entire hotel is a marvel of thoughtful design, with every detail carefully chosen. Finally, the staff, led by Umberto, the Italian General Manager, were outstanding from the moment we arrived until our departure. Each member of the team, from the waiters to our butler, was incredibly friendly and attentive to detail. Umberto the GM who is a former chef, is deeply involved with the culinary offerings, elevating the dining experience to new heights. The standard set by this hotel is unparalleled, particularly in terms of value for money. Highly recommended for an unforgettable stay!

The staff especially Arshed the general manager and Farhan went way above and beyond to make our stay so special. They arranged snorkeling and an elephant safari, we also have some dietary requirements that they catered to without missing a beat. Truly a wonderful experience.

The eco-friendly Maalu Maalu Resort & Spa - Thema Collection sits on the sandy shores of Passekudah Bay on the east coast of Sri Lanka. My son and I spent three wonderful days at Maalu Maalu. The hotel, perfectly located right by the sea, is simply stunning — a beautiful harmony of nature, comfort, and traditional architecture. But what truly made our stay unforgettable was the exceptional quality of the service. The staff were attentive, always smiling, and showed genuine hospitality throughout. There are plenty of activities for all interests, and the food truly won us over. A special thank-you to the chef and his team for their creativity: delicious, authentic Sri Lankan cuisine with a refined and modern twist. We’ll always remember their signature crab dish… and the amazing passion fruit sorbet. We were quite concerned on the way there because the trip was through some interesting but desolate terrain. What a great surprise. The property is beautiful and the staff and service were superb. The food was good too.

This place is twice as nice as the Ubay Homestay I stayed at in Trincomalee for which I paid much more - $30 per night. What's better about it, besides the lower price, is: More spacious, more modern room Fewer bugs (really hardly any) Larger, less smelly bathroom Much quieter setting. Instead of being in the middle of a bunch of other places, including a loud hostel next door, as Ubay was, this place is in a wide open, peaceful setting, the only close neighbor a church. Better breakfast at the same price - 1300 Free, filtered water A larger staff, very attentive, but unobtrusive, only there when you need them The two beaches nearby are quieter and less crowded Much thanks to Usha, the owner's wife, who speaks excellent English. She welcomed me graciously with fresh coconut water and gave me another one when I left.

Host Mano, a great storyteller, was a charm always making sure you had or get what you needed. Very relaxed atmosphere and a great spot to past time. Outdoor shower was one of the best showers (pressure and shower head) I had on the whole trip.
