Was made to feel extremely welcome by the host, Mary. Super chatty and friendly, and made me feel really at home and looked after. Comfortable room. Great breakfast. Spotless bathroom/kitchen. Great location for the hike up to the Pouakai Tarns. I would love to stay again, and can't recommend the experience enough.

Breakfast was not part of the arrangements, the location is absolutely superb with being able to walk onto the beach and the coastal walk which stretched for 13 km alongside the ocean. Hard to speak too highly of this location and the facilities, one of the highlights of our trip so far, we will be returning. The views from the accommodation are stunning, this more than lives up to the photographs.

Located in the heart of New Plymouth, walking distance to the city's finest restaurants, art, retail and business precincts. The State Hotel is a 15 room boutique hotel and only a 5-minute walk to the New Plymouth Coastal Walkway. Beautiful hotel centrally located in the heart of New Plymouth, close to CBD, beach and Pukekura Park. I loved the boutique style of the hotel, nice interior with great art, comfortable guest lounge, as well as a beautiful room. Got a lot of information and had nice chats with owner and manager Luke. Free parking is a plus, great restaurant downstairs if you wish to have breakfast, lunch or dinner. Will definitely stay there again when I have a chance!
