This is a fantastic bungalow that offers great views of volcano Arenal and the lake. The location is great as it is outside of a quiet village and very tranquil. The bungalow is large and conveniently furnished. The owners are very friendly. We enjoyed the daily breakfast on the big terrace of the restaurant. There are several breakfast options and the Costa Rican breakfast was sensational. We would definitely book this place again. There are small shops and restaurants in the surrounding area.

The view on the Arenal lake and region from the Nepenthe B&B is absolutely wonderfull. We had a great time there. Breakfast is served close to the property. Personel of the restaurant is very friendly and helpfull. We had dinner as well and they provide enough choices for a family. Toucans were flying around the property. The swimming pool is nice and has the most beautiful view. Definitely a peaceful place to stay if you like to be a bit more remote from the more busy La Fortuna city. We would recommend it.

Incredible friendly host. One of the nicest people we have met in Costa Rica, loads of good local advice and really looked out for us (especially during trickier weather during the rainy season). From the moment we arrived Sergio was the consummate host, helping with luggage, showing us around the place, and the room. Everything about the place was clean, tidy and well cared for. The room was as described, and very comfortable, with a large walk in shower. Breakfast was excellent, a great choice of fruit, granola, eggs, toast, fruit juice and good coffee, all served with a lovely smile from Sergio and Katya. Then we had a disaster - on arrival at our next stay, some 4 hours away, we realised we had left a purse containing driving licence, ID cards, credit cards etc in the room safe. We contacted Sergio and he sprang into action, packaging the purse up and sending it by post to our final destination. He was so kind, cheerful and helpful throughout our stay, the very best Booking.com host we've ever had. Thank you again Sergio!!!

We really enjoyed our stay at Arenal Descanso. The family hosting us was very nice and helpful and the breakfast was great. Especially, the Gallo pinto :) we loved to sit in the pretty garden watching the birds for the breakfast. Closeby are many restaurants and a river where you can swing into the water using a rope. It's fun!
