This is the perfect place to stay if you want to get to know the real Sal and its people. The owners went above and beyond to make me feel not only welcome, but truly at home. The room was super comfy, and the food was always delicious (be sure to try one of Candida's secret recipes for dinner, if you get the chance). I was provided with all the help and advice I needed in order to explore the island, and Candida and Martin personally took me to places that only local people know about. If, like me, you prefer a quiet, remote beach over those crowed, touristy ones: there's a small one just a short bicycle ride away – although I usually opted for a walk through to beautiful steppe landscape to get there. If you prefer spending your days with the other tourists down in the south of the island: Santa Maria beach is only 20 minutes by bus – which may sound complicated at first, but is actually super fun and convenient (and it only costs 1 Euro). I could go on praising this place for two weeks (which is actually the amount of time I stayed), but I'll just stop here – not without saying: Thank you, Candida & Martin, for the wonderful time at kleine schweiz! Muito obrigado for the stay at Sakaroule! I really enjoyed my stay there, and overall in Sal. Paola is a great host. Even if you don´t speak english, she probably will speak the language you speak. She and Mano are very kind and helpful, giving good tips and recommendations for restaurants and sights on the island. I hope to come back soon!

You can't beat this location in Santa Maria! It's close to everything! Very clean and colourful place! A special 'Thank you' goes out to Katiana, who was very supportive and helped us a lot with great recommendations! P.S. The terrace is a nice spot to relax and hang around.

The guesthouse is far away of the caothic center of Santa Maria which you can reach easily by walk and very close to the beach. If you want No stress like they say in Cape Verde you should go there definitely.

We had a fantastic holiday and the accommodation was perfect for us. It was close to all amenities, 5 minutes walk from the centre and about 5 minutes from the beach, it was also cleaned everyday. Leila at the reception was brilliant, very informative and helped us book all the trips and activities for the whole week, she was a great help.

For me the location was great: outside of center Espargos means no noises at all, super quiet and relaxing neighbourhood. Minimarket was 5 min walking away, nice and cheap restaurant 3 min. I even walked to the airport which was around 40min. The bus station for the collectivos to Santa Maria (scooter rental) is 20min walking. The room and the house is superclean, modern, and the owner is really friendly, and nearly always available via booking or WhatsApp. He speaks Portugese, Englisch, spanish and french... He has mountain bikes for rent (just 7km to the Salinas), and in the near future also scooter. The room is big with a big bed and a comfy matrace. There is a table and chairs. Also there are enough plugs to charge your stuff. The bathroom looks / is new and has a shower with hot water. The WiFi works great. I loved staying here! Definitely recommend this place!

The host Isobel was amazing, kind, lovely and very welcoming. She has a great local knowledge of Cape Verde and humourous stories to tell. It is a very clean - a real home from home property where her lovely breakfast is a bonus. I cannot recommend The Rooming House highly enough. 10/10.

Most things in the room seem new and the staff is very kind. The location is excellent, close to the bus stop and supermarkets and restaurants, in the heart of authentic Espargos. I had a good sleep, the street, busy during the day, is quiet at night. The room size is good, you get a room bigger than most
