Linda and Aidan were the consumate hosts - welcoming and friendly, and very, very flexible and helpful. They don't serve evening meals, but provided some great advice on places to eat locally; there are places within easy walking distance. The breakfast is definitely one of the best hotel breakfasts we have had - really nice locally sourced produce cooked to absolute perfection. We would support Aidan's claim to the best scrambled eggs in the world! We were house hunting and were so impressed with our first stay we went back when we returned to the area the following week. They even accommodated us for a second night after we arrived when we wanted to stay in the area for an extra day 'on spec'. We would definitely recommend and will certainly stay again next time we are in the area.

Very friendly staff, superb location on the edge of the moor. Room was nicely decorated, well equipped and clean. Breakfast excellent and evening meal good pub fare. I like the slightly quirky style of the place - so much better than bigger fancier hotels that are often soulless.

The Dartmoor bnb in the Forest Inn is a magical place in magical Dartmoor. We had a wonderful stay and felt very welcome. it’s a great place just in the center of Dartmoor wherefrom we reached everything we warntet to visit easy and in short time. It is really authentic with wonderful food and real people to meet, from guests to lokals. Richard, Paddy and Cari were making the stay very personal, always sharing something interesting and were very helpful, authentic and are just there. They made us feel very welcome and at home. The rooms were simply and beautifully decorated. The bed was super comfy. Lovely spacious bathroom and everything was perfectly clean. There was music in he pub and as the room was soundproofed, we could barely hear a thing. Staff were so friendly and made us and the dog feel welcome. Food was lovely and beautiful presented. Met a few locals who were all genuinely friendly telling us all about the local area and routes to take to the moors.

It was clean and comfortable. It had all the facilities we could possibly have needed.

We expected a cosy accommodation in city B&B (pub),....and found so much more. A great place with very attentive and friendly staff. The room was very nice and stylish and the bed super comfy. Also worth mentioning is the bathroom which was rather spacious. Twice we had dinner at the hotel (ie. at the pub) and it truly was a fantastic and delicious experience. We can absolutely recommend this hotel and would stay there again should we come back to Tavistock.

We really liked to stay at Duchy House. It's a very cosy place and Richard and Debbie are very nice hosts. They also gave us some information about were to walk in the Dartmoor. The rooms were very nice with comfortable beds. We arrived a little bit earlier and Louise, the very friendly cleaning lady, opened, organized the keys, and gave us a warm welcome. We also liked the breakfast. Opposite the house there is a playground. Our kids loved to play football there (we always have one in our luggage)..
