We chose it last minute as a resting spot while driving to Akaroa. Great and relaxing stay. Hosts were wonderful. Not only we felt very welcome, git recommendations on the area, but also got a great breakfast. Everything is very clean and cosy. Area felt very safe. There is a nice patio. Private parking spot. Exceptional value.

Excellent facilities, Rhys and Anna are very friendly and helpfull in providing travel information. Breakfast was extensive, you can select from a variety dishes which are prepared freshly. Kotare is located in a beautyfull landscape and can also serve as a base camp for a longer stay.

For all of those that want to have an unique New Zealand experience, of 1900s New Zealnd farm house,I highly recommend to have night here. The location is in the amazing NZ countriside with farms all around and very nice walks or hikes in close proximity.

Ollie and Pam were incredibly welcoming and genuinely went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. Pam first welcomed us with a cup of tea and some of her homemade cornflake biscuits. They also took the time to contact their neighbors, allowing us the unique experience of feeding their horse, pony and playing with friendly dogs nearby — a real treat! They also took the time to share more about their lovely farm and life experience with us and let interact with their adorable sheeps and chickens. The space itself was cozy, clean, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. Their warm hospitality and attention to detail made us feel right at home. If you’re looking for a relaxing countryside getaway with truly caring hosts, I can’t recommend this place enough. Thank you for an unforgettable stay! Sad that we only had time to stay for a night.

She was incredibly accommodating and always available to assist with anything we needed. Honestly, we couldn't have asked for a better experience.
