For a extra cost, she taught my wife the Tsugarujamisen and me how to make the delicious Nambu delicacy, Senbei-jiru. The premises were immaculate the freshly replaced tatami rooms aromatic. It is a little bit off the beaten path but easy enough to find with GPS.

The hosts were very friendly and welcoming - there was also a breakfast included (which I didn't remember getting). The house was full of history and souvenirs which I'm sure the hosts are more than happy to talk to you about. There is also "sake nights" where the hosts offered us a chance to try different sakes. There is only one shower in the facility, so there is a booking system to reserve your shower slot.

Tanehachi Farm Guesthouse - Vacation STAY 29709v is gelegen op 21 km van station Aomori en 21 km van Aomori Bay Bridge, en is voorzien van kamers in Aomori. It was a beautiful and homely stay! Great start to our trip in Japan/Aomori. The host family was very kind and the children were really cute! We got dinner on our first night and breakfast on our last day. We bought some of their honey as well (self-harvested!) Really fresh and delicious home-cooked food (different from the oily city food I am used to). The futons were sooo comfortable too! It's really like living with your relatives (a home/farmstay rather than a hotel so keep your expectations aligned) We love it though! Separate shower and toilets (they do provide bath towel & face towel!). There's a fridge too! We took a walk around the farm/forest and the host showed us his mini waterfall as well :) To be honest, I was a little afraid of the stink bugs but it's not as bad as I thought (mostly harmless and the host teaches you how to capture them). There's an old traditional heater where they will burn firewood so it might get a little chilly but the futon keeps you very cozy.

The hosts were super friendly, professional, and helpful! They went out of their way to arrange a taxi for us due to our early flight out in the morning. In terms of the facility, it was quiet, clean, and the bunk beds are accessible on the second floor via stairs. We traveled as a large party and the guys stayed in the mixed dorms, both upper and lower bunks. The bunks are wooden and looks very nice (quick research shows me they were made out of apple boxes!). Three of the girls in our group stayed in a traditional Japanese room. It was nice and clean. Although later at night, the other side of the Japanese room separated by wooden locked dividers were talking loudly so you can hear them. There are a total of 2 mixed gender shower rooms inside a glass container room with sinks. There is an additional female shower room and another toilet in the female side separated by a curtain from the rest of the hostel. Additional toilets are accessible on the same floor but outside the dorms (not too far though, just separated by sliding doors). Overall, a hostel I'd definitely return to if I'm in Aomori.

Towadako Backpackers is gelegen in Towada, op 10 km van Towada-meer, en heeft een tuin, een gedeelde lounge en een terras. Espectacular location which allows you to do things like the gorge walk while having your base here. It's also very nice they freely borrow bikes. We went up up a mountain to a beautiful viewpoint, and then explore other sides of the lake. So much beauty in this región.

Wij waren de enige gasten en hadden het hele huis voor ons zelf. De kamer was ruim. De keuken, badkamer en toilet waren schoon.

Comfortable, very clean and new, nicely furnished, well equipped, cheap. It genuinely felt even better than staying in my own house, and I would have loved to stay many days more there. The host is also really nice and gave us good recommendations about sightseeing in the area.

Misato Memorial Hall - Vacation STAY 61405v bevindt zich in Hirakawa, op 42 km van Towada-meer en 50 km van warmwaterbron Tsuta, en is voorzien van gratis WiFi in de hele accommodatie. The Hosts were super friendly and caring people. They like to make jokes and we had some interesting conversations. The cats couldn't be more cute :) By train its not far to Hirosaki. Go there for the cherry blossom festival - it was great for us.
