Amazing place with the most amazing host! We hanged out, played music and got to know Lily a bit in between our plans in the day. The room was very nice and clean, and it had everything we needed. Good coffee in the morning while playing boardgames. It was the perfect escape from the more busy areas we visited. Would definitely come back!

The staff was so lovely, the breakfasts were full of varied treats. I loved the residential neighborhood Dan’s Seahouse is located in, and an easy walk to excellent restaurants and to the nearby lakes. Tea bushes are everywhere once you leave the neighborhood.

Located at the bottom of the mountain park you are near the touristic village down the mountain (not up the top that is more remote and more natural). It's a family run BnB they are very good at welcoming, and they even shared their diner with us as we came in low season and were the only guest in the villa, that has 9 bedroom in total. It got cold at night (5 degree outdoor) but they provided us with extra heater for the temperature, and extra lighting to get a more cosy vibe in the room. Sky glass ceiling and waking up with view on the mountain was breathtaking. The common room have music, bar and billard to play. Chimney too but wasn't available this time because not clean.

I liked everything, the person running the hotel was so helpful. It was a long way from shops and restaurants but he took us in his car which gave him extra pocket money save calling taxi.

It is located in a very nice area, that is walking distance to the expo center. There is a Family Mart just across the street and also a mall with a "western" boutique grocery store where EU tourists can find some delicacies from home. Additionally, there is a Chinese fusion Michelin star restaurant (Guiyushanfang) in the same complex as the mall. There is also a Starbucks about 150m from the hotel, on the way to the conference venue. It is also very easy to hail-ride from the hotel. The room was as described in the photos, spacious, clean and well-maintained. The kitchen has a lot of accessories for cooking, and the fridge is large. The bathroom is large, including all of the amenities. At night, the area is very quiet so I slept well. The staff did their best to assist me despite the language barriers.

We visited Hangzhou primarily for its West Lake, for which this was a good choice of location. As a scholar preparing talks for Shanghai, the small study with its ample table was indispensable. Not only was host Yan very responsive in issues regarding her apartment, she guided us throughout our stay even on non-related matters. Given the language barrier, she booked the taxi for our departure to the railway station. Even before we left Chicago, she was helping me with the Chinese translation of the abstract of my talk. So, we left Hangzhou knowing we now had a permanent friend there to whom we could return. You may want to get to know Yan not only as a host but as a creative writer and engaging conversationalist.
