They organized the tour to the vulcano and provided us with all the info and tips for around Berastagi. The enthousiasm of the host is contagious!

We had the best time at Sumatra expedition lodge. The room was spacious, clean and had air con and a fan. The family were lovely and the workers were so friendly and helpful. We had amazing meals at the lodge (our favourite the tempeh rengdeng). We also did a jungle trek organised by the lodge. We had the most incredible day with our tour guide Oman and his helper Onkey (sorry if wrong spelling). Oman was so great with 20 plus years of experience in the jungle he was so knowledgeable and we saw so much beautiful jungle and wildlife. He also deeply cared about the environment and was a great advocate for animal wellbeing and safety. We were fortunate enough to see lots of monkeys and observe the orangutan’s up close. Definitely recommend 10/10

The room is very comfortable. AC works well. Breakfast is delicious. The area is surrounded by rice fields and it’s very beautiful to walk around for the sunset. Dila is very kind and welcoming. She borrowed us her scooter to go to the city center and she advised us on few restaurants and cafes. And we also had a chance to spend a day together. Dila showed us around Padang .. beautiful waterfall, jungles hike. The place is calm and we had a good rest. Totally recommend!

Το Orangutan Villa & Ethical Jungle Treks είναι ένα κατάλυμα με θέα στον κήπο που βρίσκεται σε Timbanglawang 1. Προσφέρει εστιατόριο, υπηρεσία δωματίου, μπαρ, κήπο και βεράντα. AMAZING stay in there. Everything was perfect : the trek, the guest house, the restaurant (so good food) and the staff. Cooking staff, jungle guides, manager, driver, they are all very nice, funny and always happy to help. The organisation is very good. GO GO GO ;)

Το Jhony's Backpacker-Guest House only stay here book treking with us, που διαθέτει κήπο και εστιατόριο, βρίσκεται σε Bukit Lawang. The rooms were super nice, same as the people who work there! Very clean!! We also booked the tour, the day we arrived there and it was great. Our tour guide Yusup and also his assistant Dani were super funny and did a great job, we had a great experience in the jungle! Also the food at the tour was great, didn’t expect that.

My stay was excellent, and I also booked the jungle trek with them. It was absolutely amazing, and it was their own business. So it was a small group. Ricky and Anto were great with taking care of us. You should really try this activity! It’s very very worth it, and rest assured you are in good hands.

The location is peaceful and beautiful, right by the lake — perfect for relaxing. The room was clean, cozy, and well-maintained. What made this place special is the heart behind it. The owner, Pak Ali, is a kind and inspiring person. He also runs a foundation for children with cleft lips in Sumatra — which made my stay feel even more meaningful. Upstairs, there’s a vegetarian café with delicious food. They grow some of their ingredients on-site (farm-to-table concept), and I was blown away by the haloumi sandwich – they even import the cheese from the UK! It’s not just a place to stay, it’s a place that stays with you. I’d definitely come back if I visit Toba again.

Gotong Rotong bus station and convenience store are located about 10 to 15 mins away by foot. The quiet villa with nice ambience is tucked away from town. Padi fields just a few minutes walk from the villa. Tyson, Dedek and team are super friendly. Their dog Balu is a charm. They are able to organize trips to the jungle, Tangkahan, transport and etc. It's like a one-stop villa for everything. The room is of good size and bed is very comfortable. Restaurant in the villa serves good food. (One can always replenish drinking water in the restaurant.) There is no need to walk out for meals. In any case, not much choices available near the villa unless one goes to Bukit Lawang. Bukit Lawang town is 20 minutes walk from the villa walking pass local residences. If not, one can take a motorbike to the town. The jungle trek organized by Tyson comes with a friendly and knowledagble guide and assistant. Saw 2 orangutans during the trek and also a few monkeys. Trek is tough and it's goes uphill and downhill. One ought to be fairly fit. Highly recommend Sumatra Orangutan Discovery Villa.

Borja and Yuyun are excellent hosts that offers you the warmest welcome that you can imagine. They are very kind and help you with any and every question you might have about the place and the island. Every single item in the rooms were well thought. Room was very clean. Having a mini fridge, boiler in the room was great to have. Location is fantastic as it's a bit remote in the island which offers you a calm place to relax. Having the ocean right beneath you is remarkable. Food in the restaurant which is running as a side business, "La Boca Chica", was a great surprise for us as it really exceeded our expectations for taste and variety. We were not comfortable to ride scooter and Borja was kind enough to give us a practice session which shows how far they are willing to go for helping their guests!
