Owner had tea ceremony which was very informative and wonderful experience to learn about Japanese culture.

The ladies that presented the food at dinner were exceptional, explaining each dish in detail, and even assisted in frying the meats perfectly. An overall amazing experience

The accommodation offers an air conditioning, a heating and a private bathroom. Blue Roof Hiei was a wonderful stay in a comfortable well maintained home. The host had excellent communication and provided many useful travel tips including parking in Kyoto. We loved the local sites including Hieizan temple and hiking trails. The house was well equipped with a nice little back yard (our kids loved to play there) and the kotatsu (table with heater underneath) was a great hangout space for watching TV or working. Overall it was a cozy and quiet refuge from the hustle of Kyoto. Our family will definitely be returning here on our next visit to Kansai!
