Cheap hotels in Guadapero

The hostal was completely new renovated in 2022 and has facilities better than most 4-star hotels. Located 800 meters from town centre means easy free parking, quiet nights and an easy walk to the interessting old town through a small park. The park has free public fittness facilities. We have booked a guided tour (tourist office by Internet) in the town which was a good way to know this interesting town. We saw no other foreign visitors in the town and the general price level was low and restaurant quality high. Our arrival to the hotel was unexpected delayed to the middle of the night i.e. after the receptions was closed at 10 PM. We contacted the hotel in advance by Whatsapp and they explained us how to enter the hotel via a code to the key box at the entrance door. It worked fine. Elevator, handicap access. Very clean. The breakfast was good compared to the price. We had toasted bread with tomato, a small cake, coffee with milk and a glass of orange juice, a typical Spanish breakfast. Staff were friendly, attentive and smiling despite they often were busy. It is one of the best hotels we have stayed in during our many visits to all of Spains 17 provinces (autonome communities).

We are two self-catering 70+yr olds driving around Portugal & Spain. Juan is the owner of the apartment. He was proactive & responsive throughout the booking process and met us at the apartment on the day. There was a language barrier but managed OK. We stayed 2 nights (Saturday & Sunday) and Juan showed us free places to park very near the apartment and walked around the immediate area with us pointing out places to access the wall, places to eat and the tourist office. You can park in his garage which is a few minutes walk away and slopes down. We didn’t take advantage of it as we have had trouble with our hire car on hills and didn’t want to risk getting stuck. If you visit during the week (when you have to pay on the street), it would be great to use. Others have mentioned the stairs and there are quite a few (3x7 & 4x8) but they’re not steep and there are small landings inbetween sets of stairs. We had no trouble carrying our luggage up and believe me it’s a small price to pay for what you get in this apartment. It is very spacious and comfortable for couples or families with kids. It has everything you need to self-cater & Juan generously left buns for breakfast, bread, butter, milk, jam and water, tea and coffee pods. It was so refreshing to meet the host in person – we didn’t have to deal with one lock-box or online link and it was so simple compared to other bookings not to have to use any technology at all. Juan is a legend and should classed as a super host – he is kind and generous and trusting to guests. Nothing in the apartment is locked away. Although there is no wi-fi we just hot-spotted from our phones so all was good.There was a medieval fair in town the weekend we were there which made it tricky getting to the apartment as some roads were closed but the atmosphere of festivities was great and even though it rained, of course this apartment with everything had 2 umbrellas which we made use of!

It was in the middle of Ciudad Rodrigo, it was clean and comfortable.
