Martha's apartment is just amazing. Not only is the apartment perfectly located, very clean and very comfortable, with all the amenities you could ask for, but staying with Martha is like staying with a dear friend. She welcomes you personally, shows you the ropes on how to get around Cinque Terre, suggests restaurants and even books the best table for you. She is truly the best host we've ever had. The penthouse has a spectacular view and its own terrace, and that alone would have made it worth it! The beds are also comfortable and the bathroom is stocked with things you need even though it is an apartment, not a hotel. Giovanni, the host, is also highly responsive and offered an excellent dinner recommendation and left us a bottle of wine. My teen and I had a fabulous experience and Giovanni even recommended a porter who could help with the luggage (for not much money); I strongly recommend using his services, as not only is the town itself hilly but there are many (MANY!) stairs to get up to the penthouse…it’s worth it for the view! Oh, and there is even a washing machine, which was quite welcome. We also loved exploring all the other towns, and the penthouse is quite close to the train station and ideally located.
