The house is located beautifully in the middle of the National Park surrounded by trees. It is decorated thoughtfully and felt like a home far from home. The host was the nicest person we met on our journey. She even helped us with a problem we had with our luggage and took care of us. Thank you so much! We will come back!

Amazing stay at Yui's Lodge. The private onsen was an added bonus. Don't be put off by the relatively low numbers of comments on Booking, this place is definitely a gem, especially if you are looking for an authentic stay in the Japanese mountains of Kyushu. We loved our stay and Yui was an incredible host. We would love to come back again!

Yuko, the proprietor, took such good care of me and made sure I was always comfortable. She also arranged for me to make some pottery and for one of her friends to take me to the top of the nearby Mount Karakuni, trekking past active, smoking volcanoes! From the top it's possible to see Mount Shinmoedake, the volcano from the James Bond film 'You Only Live Twice'!! We also had an impromptu karaoke session with some of her friends! A fabulous couple of days in a spectacularly gorgeous part of the World with a wonderful host!

An incredible little place. The remote location was great, with a good supermarket nearby and easy access to local nature and shrine spots. I've stayed in places all over Japan and this has been my favourite. The wide comfortable bed was great for laying across whilst watching a movie on the projector. Having a washing machine also came in handy. Overall a fantastic stay and I wish we could have stayed longer.
