The staff was so incredibly kind and helpful and patient. I don't speak Japanese and they accommodated me with great English for explanations and conversations. They explained everything about the hotel and town in great detail, including the onsen and restaurants. They went out of their way to research specific public transport connections in this remote area for me, it was so kind. The room is well designed and was immaculate, it has a really cozy nook with a view of the river, very lovely. The shower room is tall! The town itself is so beautiful with the river and its red bridges that light up at night. The onsen which you get free entry to through the hotel had above average sulfuric water at 39°c. It takes effort to reach from the next Shinkansen station but I think it adds a lot of charme and makes it a hidden gem. Loved my stay and hope to return some time.

The house was very clean and quiet, and the family was very kind and helpful during our stay. They shoveled snow off the driveway and offered to turn the heater on for us before we arrived. It was comfortable and enjoyable.

Having booked over hundreds of hotels, it was my first time to fill reservation form incorrectly (4 people family but didn't notice it was a 2 people order). Even so, the staff kindly informed me the order was wrong and gently asked me for extra people's futon charge without displeasure.
