Cheap hotels in Muang Không

I give this place a 10 because I can’t give it more! I came here for a few days and I ended up staying for almost 3 weeks. This island is magic and the inhabitants are the sweetest persons I have ever met. The place is extremely quiet, right in front of the Mekong river, surrounded by stunning mountains and green peanuts fields. It’s perfect for relax and chill, especially after a few months on the road. Phonphet’s family is extremely welcoming, I have felt at home during my stay here. What I like the most is that everything is authentic and traditional. We’ve always been eating delicious, local and fresh food cooked by Puk, an amazing person and very talented chef! Their food is basically organic as almost every product comes from the island itself or the local markets. It’s a perfect opportunity to immerse yourself into the authentic Laotian culture. For over 3 weeks we have been the one and only foreigners on the island, which made our experience even more special. Every time we were walking around people were screaming at us, inviting us to their house for a snack, asking us to take a picture or simply to say hello. I’ve felt part of a family, everyone on the island has been very very nice and welcoming to me. Last but not least, Phonphet and Puk started an English project right In the backyard of the homestay. Volunteers gets free accomodation in exchange of a couple of hours of English teaching to both kids and teenagers. During my stay I had the opportunity to take part of this project and be an English teacher for the little kids; it was one of the best experience of my life, if you have the chance to stay a bit longer I would highly recommend it. Sometimes the kids are still video calling me to see how I’m doing and to convince me to go back! After all, this homestay has been one of the most beautiful places I’ve been to during my whole 4 months trip in Asia.

SANDERS & TANOI are The Most Perfect guesthouse owners ever !!! Don Som Riverside location is really breathtaking, and the bungalows face some of the most fascinating views to Mekong River !!! And the dinner was really delicious !!! The gave me the very best tips to continue my travel through Mekong River on my way to Laos !!! The also organized my trip and checked the boat and tuc tuc for me. THANKS SO MANY FOR EVERYTHING & ALL THE VERY BEST FOR YOUR HUMANITARIAN PROJECTS !!!

The best location for relaxing and from our balcony we can see river and sunset view, the room is very clean and new they have good restaurant next to the room the food was amazing and lovely staff and they have bicycles for rent and bus tickets we lovely people here and hope to see you in someday

Our room was very spacious and clean, with the most amazing balcony right on the river, complete with hammocks. Watching the sunset from our balcony each evening was truly delightful. The island is really quiet but has plenty of restaurants within walking distance. We hired bicycles at the guesthouse and visited 2 fabulous waterfalls and Don Khon's busier neighbour Don Det. The staff were always friendly and helpful and arranged our onwards journey right from our balcony! We loved our stay here and would love to return.

This was the best stay I’ve had while traveling down through Laos from Luang Prabang. Totally recommend it to everyone! Alex and Leymon are super friendly. they even helped arrange a ride to Don Det and were quick to reply to messages before I arrived. Especially, Leymon’s Asian food was amazing, honestly as good as what I’ve had in the actual countries. Can’t wait to try it again! Between meals we played cards, chatted, and hung out with their dogs and cats—such a chill vibe. The room was clean and comfy, with a soft bed, towels, and shampoo. The shower has an open ceiling, so you might notice it when it rains, but it didn’t bother me at all. Loved the whole experience!

Room with a wonderful view on the sunset side and enjoyable terrace. It was very clean, with comfortable beds and all you need in a room. Mrs Chin, the owner, is very kind and we had an excellent communication with her. Definitely recommend the place
