We came to Hotel Playa Laguna Front to unplug, relax, and enjoy the lagoon -- and that's exactly what we did for 5 days. The hotel is in a prime location, sitting at perhaps the most colorful, swimmer-friendly part of the lagoon. You can tell it's a prime spot because a lot of boat tours end around this area to let people swim in the lighter waters there near the cenote. It's also only a couple kms from the town center, so you can easily get into town while still having enough distance from the more touristy center. The hotel itself isn't a fancy upscale place, but that's not what we were looking for. Nonetheless the hotel is new and the facilities are clean/modern with great bathrooms. The hotel is run by a lovely team who were really accommodating...big thanks to the manager Evaristo for always being there to help with any questions. Another great thing is that the kayaks and sup-boards are free to use from 6am to 6pm. The only day you can't use them is on Wednesday when no water activities (other than swimming) are allowed across the lagoon. Wednesdays are conservation days, with inactivity allowing the lagoon to restore itself.

The apartment was beautiful, large, clean and well maintained with everything you needed to self cater. Air-conditioning worked well and the rooms were spacious and well furnished. We really liked that drinking water and ground coffee were provided. The pool area is fantastic with a large clean pool. The music drove us slightly mad when we arrived but the staff kindly turned it off so we could relax and read our books with just the jungle sounds. The hotel offers a washing service which ended up being cheaper and easier than the laundry service we had used in town previously. There is a small shop with basics and pool towels can be hired. They provide a great information card with some excellent restaurant recommendations, trips etc. Communication was really good before and during our stay. The hotel is calm and relaxing with a fantastic staff team on duty 24hr. We loved our stay here.

We loved everything about this place! It consists of several wooden bungalows in a beautiful garden, backing onto the lake. Best thing about it is the large wooden pier extending into the lake with sunbeds, and swings and hammocks in the lake. The views are amazing and there are canoes you can use. Breakfast is simple but adequate. The staff is really great and helpful, and everything is very well kept and clean. Warmly recommended.

The place is very new and clean. The bed was good. The lady who gave us the key doesn't speak English but was very friendly. AC was working very well. There is no reception desk, just a person maintaining the rooms, so remember to bring the exact cash. It's a 30 minutes walk away from the center, so better come with a car.

What a fantastic place. Such good value for money. Brilliant location of you’re looking to stay in the town. We spent a few days directly on the lake before staying here. This was place was way cheaper and we preferred it to our hotel by some distance. Comfy, cosy, clean, safe, air conditioned and also had Netflix which was a nice treat after long days in the sun. So many great restaurants and cafes nearby. Wish we stayed here for the entirety of our time in Bacalar. If you’re on a budget you won’t regret staying here!
