Very quiet place in the middle of nature. Staff overwhelmingly friendly and helpful. Excellent food, fresh juices, herbs and salads and of course fish from the lake. Just relax, take a swim in the lake or the pool, enjoy the sun setting behind the slopes of Mombacho volcano, and see it being illuminated by the rising sun next morning. Have a cocktail, and go kayaking around neighboring isletas.

A truly exceptional place, one of a kind! Beautiful: The place looks as if journal pictures came alive. Lots of greenery, the pool is large, lots of beautiful details, art, you can keep taking pictures there forever. Clean and comfortable: It is impeccable clean, the pool was cleaned every day, there are no spots in any furniture both inside the room and in common areas. Every detail is of high quality. Pleasant smells wherever you go. Room: The room is large with plenty of storage place and nice decorations. The bathroom is large and beautiful with fresh flowers and a shower with good pressure. Breakfast: Oh you don't want to miss it! Yves attends himself and we got spoiled with eggs of our choice (omelette with cheese and vegetables is yummy!), crepes with homemade jams by his wife (yum yum!) and a bowl of fresh fruit.The breakfast was not only about food, it was the whole experience by itself. It is one thing to be a nice host when everything moves smooth, but we had great experience even with all the troubles we caused. I think this is what differentiates a good host from a great one, Yves being the great one obviously :) - We checked in past midnight, Yves gave us a warm welcome. - We had daily early morning tours, where Yves woke up at 4-5 am to open us doors and prepared freshly squeezed orange juice. - My partner got sick, Yves suggested a doctor and took good care of him. - We thought we lost a wallet in the room and found it later, Yves managed the situation professionally. - I was going out alone at night with phone and money in my hands, Yves saw this and gave me some safety talk :D - I am a fruits junkie who just had to buy a big papaya. Yves offered to store the papaya in his fridge for several days in spite of it being full. Yves, we can not be grateful enough, thank you and your wife so much. I rarely bother writing reviews but I enjoyed my stay at Hostel Azul so much, I thought I would leave a review on this occasion. I treated myself to the queen room, a Christmas present to myself! It was spacious, the bed was very comfy, the huge walk-in closet also had a modern clothes airer and the bathroom was large and clean and well lit. It all felt very modern. The pool, hammocks and the lounge chairs outside were great for relaxing and the large fridge came in useful, especially the ice and water dispenser. There was a choice of breakfasts. The tours I booked with the hostel were well-ran with very professional guides and transportation people. The owners of the hostel couldn’t have been more helpful, happy to their spend time with the people staying there and answering all the questions I had. They made me feel like family!

    Wish we could give more 'points'. This place was the most amazing and pleasant accommodation in the more than 2 weeks traveling in Nicaragua. Everything was just perfect. The location (one of the small islands -Isletas- on a 15 min boat trip away from Granada with only 4 other huts), the design (beautiful colors and functionality), the staff (during the afternoon/evening English and very kind/helpful), delicious food and free use of kayaks.

    The stuff of ‘“Isleta El Espino” is very good organised - the transfer to the island was easy and once on the island we felt like kings, every wish was fullfilled and we had some nice privacy, the food was food and it was very clean. Sleeping was also good as the whole room was bug-secured.
