I was q bit worried about staying in a smart hotel but be reassured all you other technophobes we were able to check in with a human in the restaurant across the road where we also got a ticket for parking during our stay either in front of the hotel or up the road. The hotel was very solid and comfortable and the decoration grew on us. I loved the concept that you can use whatever you find in the hotel.. including beer. The restaurant on site is very good and stays.open late and there is a free bus to the festival

The staff is extremely nice and accommodating. Our breakfast was wonderful and we also dined in the restaurant one evening for a delicious authentic Bavarian meal.

The Altstadthotel Messerschmitt is an ideal base for visiting Bamberg’s old alleyways, Baroque façades and churches. Beautiful and spacious room. The entire hotel is squeaky clean and smells good. The bed and pillows were really comfortable. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Fresh fruit in the mornings. The location is perfect, within walkable distance to the train station and landmarks. Definitely would stay here again!
