I’ve been in Sri Lanka for 4 weeks and stayed at more than a dozen places. This one I will never forget. When I first saw the ad, I thought it looked too good to be true. But since there was a special price for the opening, I thought I’d give it a try. I could not be happier with the choice. I've had an unforgettable experience. This place is absolutely fantastic! To help future guests, I will try to provide as much detail as I can in BOTH columns: The cottage only opened in February 2024, so everything is brand new. Unlike in other places, you actually get what you see in the pictures. Everything about this place is very well thought-through and built in a way such as to allow for a most pleasant stay: The cottage is located very quietly in the middle of nature but still close enough to town (5 min by tuktuk). It has an outdoor terrace with two regular and one swing chair offering a lovely view over the garden. The bedroom is beautifully designed and very spacious. The wardrobe and dresser offer plenty of space to store luggage openly and easily accessible. The beds are very comfortable and the mattrasses have standard European/US length (I mention this because sometimes in Sri Lanka, the mattrasses are shorter so that your feet stick out at the end). The A/C is very powerful and there are no smells (which sometimes happens with older models). It cools down the entire room very evenly. There are multiple electrical outlets which all types of sockets (even USB slots). There are light switches for every single lamp which allows you to set the lighting in just the way you prefer. Worth mentioning here too is the warm temperature of the light. The WiFi is reliable and sufficiently strong for browsing, streaming, and video calls.

Honestly, I don’t think you could find a better place close to Udulawawa. Very helpful host, beautiful garden, tasty food, comfortable room & bed.

Probably the best stay in Sri Lanka. We arrived earlier but were welcomed by the kind family with smiles, coconuts and we could already use the pool! The garden and pool are well maintained and the lodges are beautiful. The modern room had AC, mosquito net and hot water. As many accommodations in the area the price is very cheap because they can arrange a safari tour for you: the truth is we were not disappointed with it. We had breakfast right after the early safari, the best we had in Sri Lanka, with many local homemade delicious options. We recommend trying their dinner too, you won’t be disappointed! Maika lodge is only 10min walking from Udawalawe and had also many dining options nearby. We wish best of luck to this beautiful family and strongly recommend staying with them!

Το Amba Kola Udawalawa είναι σε Udawalawe, σε απόσταση 8,1 χλμ από το σημείο ενδιαφέροντος Εθνικό Πάρκο Udawalawe και προσφέρει καταλύματα με εξωτερική πισίνα, δωρεάν ιδιωτικό χώρο στάθμευσης, κήπο... As we really wanted to see wild elephants, we made a stop in Udawalawe, but spotting them wasn't our biggest suprise here. We stayed at the Amba Kola hotel and this was just the most wonderful experience. The kindest owners truely, the nicest room, a brand new and well kept pool, the most delicious food from the entire trip, and playful dogs amongst which the two most adorable puppies  🐶 As mentionned, the food was incredible and we had the chance to take part in the preparation by doing the cooking class with the owner. Something you should really try after a morning safari.  Janik is also so kind, ready to help you with anything, answer any question. He will make everything in his power to make you feel like the most valuable guest on the planet. If you are passing by, really we can't recommend it enough 😍 (we thought the 10 on booking was impossible. Well we thought wrong)
