United StatesNayalap was one of our favorite destinations in all of India. It is located in a beautiful mountainous setting and seamlessly integrated into the surrounding village. Tanuja, its founder, is a wonderful guide and leads fascinating walking tours to the nearby villages (including partially uninhabited villages) about the local traditions and village life, as well as to beautiful lookout points. There is so much intention that goes into ensuring that Nayalap provides opportunities to the local community, who otherwise are facing significant environmental and economic challenges. The food was extraordinary -- we loved the local Kumaoni dishes that were cooked with so much love, it was the best food of our entire India trip.
