Everything was perfect, beautiful place! But the best thing there has to be Mr. Komang such a friendly, welcoming soul.

The location is breathtakingly beautiful! The camp is also very nicely set up. Dinner was with a view of Mt. Batur with a campfire. The staff and owners very accommodating and lovely. If you love nature, peace and are not afraid of insects, this is an absolute paradise. We would come back in a heartbeat. Thank you for the great time with you.

We stayed at this place for two nights in June, and honestly, I hesitated for a long time before booking it, because I had read so many negative reviews. Now I’d like to share my own experience and respond to some of those concerns. 1. Location: Some people said the road to the hotel was terrible and even scary. Here’s what I can say: we had a private driver, not a regular taxi, and the road was asphalted almost the entire way. Even in the rain, it was totally fine. Yes, the last 5 minutes have some steep turns, but nothing extreme — any local driver will manage it easily. And here’s something no one mentioned (but absolutely should have): the hotel provides free shuttle service to and from the main road, where you’ll find supermarkets, cafes, or can just go for a walk. They will drop you off and pick you up whenever it’s convenient for you. That’s an amazing service, and I was really surprised no one had written about it. 2. Insects: Yes, there are insects. But you’re literally in the mountains, surrounded by greenery — what do you expect? That said, small flies (especially during the day) can be annoying, so I highly recommend bringing an insect repellent spray — it’s a must. Also, bring something against mosquitoes. Just keep the windows and curtains closed after sunset, and you’ll be fine. 3. Kitchen: The kitchen was great — you really have everything you need to cook, and we actually did. The hotel provides basic ingredients like oil, jam, bread, eggs, instant noodles, a few sauces, etc. Plus, the store is only 5 minutes away by car, so you can get anything else you need. 4. Shower and Bath: It’s true — you won’t be able to take long, luxurious showers or fill up the bathtub quickly. But there’s enough hot water for a normal shower, and to be honest, I never really felt like using the bathtub anyway. In most places in Indonesia, bathtubs take a while to fill — it’s not unusual. 5.

Stayed for two nights at the Pondok Cottage. One of the best places I’ve stayed in my whole holiday in Bali. Perfect place to stay thanks to the perfect organisation that the family runs the cottage! They organise the whole activities that the area offers, such as the trekking on the volcano, hot natural springs, coffee plantation and ATV/4wD experience. We rely on Wayan which is the guy that will look after the booking and most luckily your driver! The Cottage offers also a mini restaurant open all day! They cook delicious local foods! Btw they also offer free transportation! Amazing!

Met the most friendly people over there treating you like family. Owner Ady along with all staff and friends around tried their best to make your stay comfortable and help with the arrangements of Batur sunrise hiking, driving me to the hot spring. Thank you everyone for everything.

The cottages are very well finished and extremely comfortable, the hot spring is an amazing feature! The staff are really helpful and organised a taxi for us last minute who made sure we got to our connecting boat on time! Location is remote but good place to be for early morning trekking.
