The airconditioning was very necessary with 38 degrees, but it worked like a charm if you keep the tent closed. Wonderful shower and sitting on the porch watching the sunset is something you won't soon forget.

It was a comfortable place to stay. The room has an air conditioner, bar fridge, and DSTV. Staff was friendly and helpful. It was real value for money. I'll definitely come back when I visit Jozini again.

Absolutely wonderful place, wish we could have stayed longer. Cobus and karen are the most amenable and accommodating hosts. We had a beautiful room which overlooked a garden frequented by warthog, wildebeest and other fauna. We walked the trails on our own and saw giraffe, nyala and many other antelope. It was amazing to have the bush trails to ourselves as we like to be independent ( you can have a guide if you like) the meals were delightful and cooked to perfection. We loved staying on this reserve and it deserves all the success.

Our previous visit was too short and we promised ourselves to come back again. Our stay this time was just as wonderful. Somkhanda is such a beautiful and unique game reserve and compared to many other lodges and private game reserves it is still good value. If you don't expect unnecessary luxury (our opinion) then you will love it here. We highly recommend taking the game drive whether you have a 4x4 or not as our guide Riaan is so knowledgeable and you will get to see a lot more of this gem of a game reserve. The staff are also so friendly and helpful and if you are not self catering there is a little restaurant offering a limited but tasty selection of dishes. We hope to be back again.
