Also know that the location is ideal for tourists with a rental car who want to visit castles: it is nearly equidistant between Raglan Castle, Monmouth Castle, and Chepstow Castle (as well as Tintern Abbey and its access to the Offa's Dyke hiking trail). Tangentially, the main street of Monmouth is worth visiting for restaurants, buying hiking poles if needed, etc. Don't think that staying at this location means you must do grocery shopping in Chepstow. We've included a photo of our teenage boys sitting on Devil's Pulpit, waiting for their slower parents to complete that portion of the hike.
