Mariam was the star of this stay. A wonderful host that shared so much precious insight on Armenian culture, history and traditions. We chatted forever! The property is secluded and quiet which is exactly what we needed. There are a couple of rough patches driving up and the last few meters before the property is a dirt road but don’t let anyone scare you because it’s very easy to reach even with a very low clearance car as our rental. The food prepared for us for both dinner and breakfast was simply amazing. Tasty and earthy and home grown. Too bad we stayed only one night.

Gnishik is literally right at the end of the road, you can go no further, but the Eco Lodge certainly makes the journey worthwhile. The gent who let us in and gave us the keys was very pleasant and helpful and communication before arrival was excellent. It was made clear that the location was remote and that we would have to bring our food and drink with us. This was fine and the shared kitchen was very well equipped. We had a lovely en suite room upstairs with wonderful views from our balcony, especially of the beautiful rose garden in the back garden. We were also lucky enough to have the whole place to ourselves. The bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. There was a problem with the WiFi in the early evening, but it was quickly resolved and worked very well for us after that; not good enough to stream, but perfectly well for browsing, emails, etc. We parked in the drive in front of the Lodge, but there are zero security concerns. If you get the chance to visit, then we strongly suggest that you do. The drive south from Lake Sevan is truly spectacular. The last few kilometres of road were pot holed and slow going, but perfectly accessible if you drive slowly. Overall, this is a wonderful place to enjoy nature and relax and we loved our visit. Very highly recommended.

The location is stunning. You are sleeping on a cliff's edge and looking out on a beautiful landscape. Whether it is stargazing at night, or enjoying the sunrise. You will not be disapointed. Breakfast was delivered on the porch and just so lovely. Please do not forget to eat at the Cave restaurant by the same owner. And join one of their wild life tours. We just felt so lucky we found this gem and couldn't believe it wasn't fully booked for the coming years.

EDI is a great host and a great vineyard producer of pomgrenate wine!! Very welcoming and helpful, i recommend to any traveller this spot!

The hosts are a husband and wife team that treat you like family the moment you walk through the door. They gave us a full tour of their property, answered many of our questions related to Armenia's history, and even gave us a free bottle of their homemade wine made from the famous Areni grape before we left. Also.. did I mention the location?? The view from our bedroom would have made you think we were in Sedona, except even better it was Armenia! The hotel was right on a beautiful river situated below a huge and gorgeous cliff, it was our own little corner of paradise. The hotel was also situated close to other wineries, restaurants, etc. (one of which we had a private cooking class with!). Lastly, the room itself was super clean, the beds were comfortable, and the room let in great light along with a balcony that allowed us to sit out and enjoy our coffee in the morning while looking out to the river and cliffs. They even had a gym if you wanted to work out! This is definitely where we will be staying when we come back!

It’s our first time in Armenia, and this region has amazed us — both with its beautiful autumn nature and this charming hotel.
