I recently stayed at Naturhotel Outside, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and genuinely cared for. The rooms are spacious, beautifully designed with natural materials, and offer stunning views of the surrounding Alps. The spa is exceptional, featuring outdoor and indoor pools, saunas, and relaxation areas that perfectly blend luxury with nature. The dining experience exceeded all expectations. Every meal was thoughtfully prepared with fresh, local ingredients. Special thanks to the waiter Edi, who provided attentive and friendly service, making each dining experience feel personal and special. He was knowledgeable about the menu and wine pairings, and his warmth added a personal touch to our stay. Overall, Naturhotel Outside offers a perfect combination of comfort, elegance, and connection with nature. I left feeling completely refreshed and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious alpine retreat.

Matrei and the surrounding countryside mirror the pictures...

Matrei and the surrounding countryside mirror the pictures that are seen of Austria: it is beautiful. The town has two grocery stores and a very helpful tourist information center. It also has an interesting museum and a reasonable choice of restaurants.. We ate our evening meal in the hotel across the street ( where the breakfast included is eaten) and the food was good. Easy access from the main highway.

Nice small town. They have supermarkets and a bus stop. For us it was our starting and end point of the Venediger Höhenweg. You need some planning to get to the right place by bus. Nice connection to the train station in Kitzbühel and Lienz. Also you can get by bus to the Matreier Tauern Haus and Ströden. Hitchhiking is also possible.

Marvelous little city with a beautiful centre, surrounded by magnificant mountains giving several opportunities for great hikes. Especially from Kleiner Zunig one can enjoy really a postcard view over this beautiful city.

This is the third summer that we have come here for a few days, a beautiful place, many excursion opportunities, a mountain lift in the village, shops, We bought homemade cheeses, butter, yogurt, milk in the Bichl area, from the fridge, it was excellent. We will come again next year...

The accommodation is absolutely great for trips around. The landlady is very nice, the apartment is cozy and perfectly clean.. We were warmly welcomed even with our dog.. Before leaving we received a delicious cake.. There is nothing to criticize.. The place is quiet and smells of the Alpine countryside..

The destination Matrei offers a number of trips within an acceptable radius. We recommend: The entire Virgental valley with a trip to the Umbaltal waterfalls. Visit the Prossegg location with a chapel, gorge and waterfall. Drive to Kals, Grossdorf and take the cable car to the Adler Lounge with panoramic and exceptional views. From Grossdorf then the Dorfertal route.

Almost everything was perfect. It is a family-run hotel and the staff is very customer-oriented. For example at breakfast we were looking for normal joghurt (they had mixed fruit ones). The following mornings they brought us directly at the table a bowl of normal joghurt. These are the kind of small gestures that make you feel comfortable.
