Our stay here was the absolute highlight of our trip so far. The place was newly renovated, all the amenities and equipments provided were all new and of high quality. It was evident that the owner put in a lot of thoughts in designing this place. Michael was also easygoing and allowed us to check in a bit earlier and let us store our bags before our ferry arrived. The view overlooking the lake from the room was absolutely magnificient. We had swans and ducks swimming to our room in the early morning, presumably hunting for food. The breakfast prepared was also delicious and sumptuous.

We travelled with 3 different trains from Vienna to...

We travelled with 3 different trains from Vienna to Obertraun in order to visit Hallstat. Unfortunately, the transportation wasn't very convenient for us. One of the trains that we had arranged was late and we had to wait two more hours in order to get the last train to Obertraun. We departed from Vienna at 8:00 and we arrived to Obertraun at 15:30! Obertraun was very close to Hallstat. Hallstat is a magical place but next time I would prefer to visit it by car.

Stay in beautiful Obertraun instead of the overpriced and crowded Hallstatt! We stayed 3 nights in a lovely accommodation Haus Edelweiss, and following the recommendations of lovely host Nina, we spent one day walking from Obertruan to Hallstatt. Along the way, we saw this stone path going up the hill and we went up (very do-able hike), and it led to a very beautiful view of Hallstatt! We then went down the other way and continued walking towards Hallstatt, explored the beautiful village and took the ferry (Euro 12/pax) back to Obertruan. Next day, we walked a loop from Obertruan to Koppenwinlsee. The walk was very lovely and we saw tiny red strawberries everywhere! There was a restaurant after Koppenwinslee but I think it was closed on Mon-Wed (please check), and other days open for lunch & dinner, so time yourself to make it in time for lunch/dinner. We were stopping so often to admire the scenery that we missed their lunch time! It is better to visit during non-summer to enjoy Austria.

Everything about this place was amazing ! From the location , to connectivity, comfort, staff etc. The bus stop and the train station are at a walkable distance. There is also a boat which takes you to the Hallstatt town right opposite to the hotel. The view (mountain and lake) was breathtaking. The breakfast was quite wholesome. The Obertraun valley is beautiful where the hotel is situated. Staff were very courteous. Totally recommend!

The service and attention given by the staff members were beyond nice. The girls were super helpful and polite. The location is also a win, since it's not only very close to Hallstatt and the access to Dachstein, but its right next to a river in a really nice quite area of Obertraun. The common areas and the rooms were nice and tidy. Great and complete breakfast. We will definitely come back. Both Obertraun and Hallstatt are dreamy!

The view is mesmerising. Waking up, and looking into the mountains and lake while in the bed is a wonderful feeling. We rented a bike from the only bike rental station in Obertraun, and did a bike ride to the Hallstatt. The views along the lake are breathtaking. 1 day rental is upto 8pm. There’s a nice park next to the hotel, and also a restaurant. It’s a small town though, so we didn’t aim for lot of food varieties.

Amazing location with a great connection to Hallstatt thanks to the nearby boat transportation. Personal was kind, the room was just enough for us, the hotel with a beach had many activities available within the resort, the breakfast was perfect and the bar was a nice place to spend a stormy evening.
