Hotel Bruny in Alonnah is a draw card, eat in or takeaway. Down the road in Lunawanna is the vineyard restaurant, great for lunch (dinner at weekends). Alonnah is at the top of south Bruny, an ideal base for exploring the whole island.

If staying on Bruny Island you will need a car to get around...

If staying on Bruny Island you will need a car to get around. Alonnah is quite central and has the Hotel Bruny for meals which were very nice. Everywhere on Bruny is picturesque. Other areas have nicer beaches. Adventure Bay had beautiful beaches for swimming, plus a shop and cafe/restaurant which an unusual menu from burgers to curries -,probably the best curry I’ve ever had.

Excellent central location for exploring Bruny Island's...

Excellent central location for exploring Bruny Island's attractions and observing the Aurora Australis. The pub is quite popular, so be sure to make a reservation; the meals are also good. There's a convenient bottle shop as well.

Very quiet location with lots of bush around, house was...

Very quiet location with lots of bush around, house was close enough to the shops by short drive or walk, Alonnah has pub with great food and a general store and post office. We shopped for groceries on the drive from Hobart so were well stocked, only a couple of stores on the island with limited products - being self contained was great, would recommend that approach. Ideal for a restful and peaceful holiday - Alonnah was in a great location for us to travel around the island, within a week we saw all island attractions and still time to relax. Lots of walking optioins on island, but we didnt take them up. If you love nature you will love this.

Friendly, relaxing atmosphere.

Friendly, relaxing atmosphere. Greeted with 2 free bottles of locally produced Bruny Island cider. Food was delicious at the hotel but you need to book a table as they fill quickly. Views were amazing.

It's only about 30 min from the ferry terminal and the full...

It's only about 30 min from the ferry terminal and the full length of the road between ferry terminal and Alonnah is sealed and not gravel road. Hotel Bruny is only 5 min drive down the main road but you have to book as this is the other restaurant open for dinner, I believe. Food there was very good.

We loved the view over the ocean. We could see snow capped mountains in the distance and loved watching the wallabies each sunset. It was very warm and comfortable. It is close to the Bruny hotel which we only stopped in for an afternoon drink but was nice. Wifi worked well. Kitchen had everything we needed.

Location was excellent with superb views and close proximity to hotel for meals if needed. .Enjoyed seeing wildlife in the garden. Very clean and comfortable. Perfect for a couple. Correspondence and information from owner very helpful. Appreciated the breakfast cereal . Thank you for a lovely stay

Location is good. Just behind Bruny Hotel where we booked for good Dinner. Unblock frontage. We managed to catch to gazing star infront of the unit. perfect. Every was good. Bed are comfortable with heating during winter.
